Lyrics

"In The Sun"
It's hard to be ignored
When I look at you, you look so bored
My baby, my darling, I've been takin' a beating

Well, all right (Well, all right)
It's okay (It's okay)
We all get the slip sometimes every day
I'll just keep it to myself
In the sun
In the sun

It's hard to take the blame
When I look at you, you're so ashamed
My baby, my darling, I've been thinkin' of leaving

Well, all right (Well, all right)
It's okay (It's okay)
We all get the slip sometimes every day
I'll just keep it to myself
In the sun
In the sun

Well, all right (Well, all right)
It's okay (It's okay)
We all feel ashamed sometimes every day
I'll just keep it to myself
In the sun
In the sun

Songs from my Childhood

Song from Primary school:
Year 3000 - Busted

I liked this song because of the music video and the catchy tune. They were my favourite band when i was younger and until they broke up. The target audience of the band were young kids/teenagers and the video has a lot of weird futuristic things in it to interest kids.

Start of high school:
Meet Me Halfway - Black Eyed Peas

This song reminds me of year 7 because it was popular and so it was played over and over again so i began to dislike it because of how much i heard it however i can still remember it because of the catchy tune

Favourite song now
Teddy Picker - Arctic Monkeys

Despite this being a very old song, coming out in 2007, it is still one of my favourite song. It is also memorable because it was the first song i learned to play on guitar.

Carol Vernallis

Carol Vernallis is known for her theory on music video editing. It revolves around 4 key concepts:

Narrative - She believes that the video is a response to the audio, that it relates to the style and genre of the music and also that it will be in sync with the musics beat.
The video itself may provide answers to the song or even open up questions that the song cannot answer.
Sometimes there is not a clear structure to the video

Editing - The video will be cut and edited to match the beat of the music
The editing will break many of the usual; rules of editing to fit the music
The editing may become more obvious to make the viewer notice it

Camera Movement - Shots will be repeated a lot in a video for example a close up shot is often used to show emotion on the artists voice.
Camera may move in time with the music or directly against it depending on genre/theme of the song
The main shot, usually a close up or mid shot is used the most in the video

Diegesis - Diegesis may be revealed slowly or all of a sudden, this is usually dependant on the style of song
Objets may move in time with the song
Diegesis may be broken down into pieces

Bad music video

Friday - Rebecca Black

This song has been rated the worst video of all time. The lip syncing is not timed right, the effects have been overused and give the video a tacky feel, the editing between shots has no flow to it and the song going with it is awful and it relates in now way to Andrew Goodwins music video theory.
